Definitely recommend the movie and this theatre. The seats are very old, worn out, and uncomfortable and the projectors are extremely outdated and loud. I am not sure why anybody would give a negative review to Hollywood cinema. Nice couches and tables, I would only recommend that part of the business. There were no previews also, which was nice. It's a very affordable movie house.
Once inside it's pretty sparse and not particularly clean but they do have a decent concession stand and their popcorn is quite good, better then other establishments in the area. We felt really bad for bringing our family who was visiting from out of state to this theater. My family and I saw Transylvania 3-Summer Vacation this afternoon. Prob cause the restaurant is the one that keeps that part clean. I've spent many rainy afternoons here and never had a bad experience. Can't speak for the bathrooms, one can only imagine based on the appearance of the rest of the place I went on a Saturday afternoon, there was plenty of seating. Some of the reviews make it sound awful.
Fortunately it was so bad we were able to have a good laugh afterwards. So I sat to the other side. The first time I went I actually passed by because it looks like an abandoned warehouse from the road and the signage is poor. Ticketing area clean - attendants pleasant and knowledgeable. Such a cute, almost empty theatre! The concessions were fair and the popcorn price was good. I sipped on Diet Pepsi and enjoyed my stale popcorn.
If you want a throwback theater without the surround sound and the affordable prices, this is the place to go. Speaking of sound, I couldn't detect any sense of stereo or surround sound, despite the fact that there are speakers visible around the theater and I was watching an action movie, I don't think the sound system is working properly or setup properly. When I entered the theater, I was reminded of this run-down movie theater from my childhood. It's weird, I thought it was a one time error my first time but it was the same the second. . But the restaurant on the side of the building is a good friendly place to eat.
Like another reviewer mentioned, we could actually hear the movie playing in the next theater over better than the movie we were trying to watch. So bring the family, just make sure you wash your hands and check the bottom of your shoes when you leave. The actual theaters are pretty small, and the seats are what you would know from the 1980's. Ticketing area clean - attendants pleasant and knowledgeable. If you're going to go to this theatre, I suggest you spend the extra money and go to the dinner and movie part. I think this is the 4th movie I've seen here in the last 3 months so consider this rating an aggregate of all recent visits.
I wish I could give this cinema zero stars, because it doesn't even deserve one. Lo and behold, Hollywood Cinemas must have bought them out and had not upgraded it in the 30+ years since then. This is a throwback theater but a good place to visit. Problem is the lights never came down, one of the two speakers didn't come on, the projector was louder than the one working speaker, and the movie next door was louder than ours at time. I come from an area where you have reclining assigned seats - this it is not.
Yes, the trash is over floweth. I've watched alot of movies here and never been disappointed. They would be better off leaving the lights out all the time to hide how nasty the place is and just handing patrons glow sticks to find their way around. Apparently nobody was paying attention in the projection booth and the house lights in the theater were left on during the entire movie, which really isn't in the theaters best interest given the poor condition. They were actually even louder than the movie at times. It's a movie theater where gasp, you find your own seats.
The actual theaters are pretty small, and the seats are what you would know from the 1980's. They are desperately owned business but work together for this part. Recently they seem to have more first run movies and have raised the ticket prices considerably. The volume was so low I could often hear the movie in the next theater better than the movie I was watching. For the matinee, there was no one in the theater. It's not all that clean, there are very few employees working at any time, and it has the old-style theater seating.
